Clear glass has many names
Using the technical term it is called soda-lime glass. In some glass-kilns it is often referred to as bright-glass or crystal (as to be distinguished from lead crystal). But it is always a clear and colourless glass, as we all know it from our window panes. Soda-lime glass is used in many different ways and purposes. It often serves as a protecting glass, it is also used to design objects or in matted form as a diffused lighting glass. This type of glass is much older as the opal glass and forms the base of many colours and patterns. It is less complex compared to opal glass but due to the high quality standards mostly more expensive than the latter, apart of course from cheap vessels for plants and vases.
